Women's High Jump • Athletics Week _ Moscow 2023
In the absence of Maria Lasitskene, who missed the tournament due to an achilles injury sustained at the Russian Team Championship in Sochi, Belarusian Karina Demidik looked the main favorite. It was she who previously became the winner of the III stage of the "Queen of Sports", 3cm ahead of the Tokyo Olympic champion herself.
Karina started trying later than the other girls – at a height of 1.83m. By this time, Russian athletes Daria Chukshis and Alexandra Yaryshkina had already dropped out of the competition. The Belarusian did not go to 1.86, but immediately started to 1.89, which she took on the second attempt. Meanwhile, Polina Parfenenko and Kristina Koroleva dropped out with a score of 1.83 and 1.86, respectively. And Karina went to 1.91 with Natalia Spiridonova, Maria Kochanova and Nadezhda Andriukhina and immediately overcame this mark.
Natalia Spiridonova failed and remained fourth, Nadezhda Andriukhina took the height on the second attempt, and Maria Kochanova — on the third.
The three girls tried to overcome the 1.93 mark as well. However, the height did not submit to any of them. As a result, Demidik took gold on attempts, Nadezhda Andriukhina – silver, and Maria Kochanova – bronze.
